Lion Larry Named District Lion of the Year!

Here's what the District newsletter had to say about our own Lion Larry:

Lion Larry Cole of the Hillsboro Lions Club was named Lion of the Year at the District Convention, an award presented by the 13-J PDG Association each year.
     Lion Larry was nominated by Zone 3 Chair Jim Faust who wrote, “Larry has been a Lion for 22 years and he has been involved in almost every local, district, and state Lions activitiy possible.” He goes on to note the many offices that Larry has held within his club and his great attendance and visiting record. Larry’s resume of community service is lengthy and includes many Lions, church, and community projects.
     Zone Chair Jim concluded his nomination, “As a member of the Lions organization for nearly 40 years, I have worked with many super Lions members at all levels in many situations. However, I cannot think of any Lion who is more dedicated to the goals of Lionism than Larry Cole.”
     It also should be noted that Larry’s wife Mary was Lion of the Year in 2009. Congratulations, Lion Larry ... a well-deserved award.

As it says, the Hillsboro Lions Club has been home to Lion of the Year 2 of the past 3 years!

Hillsboro Lions was given this certificate by SATH as one of their top supporters.

Hillsboro named 1st place Club of the year!

Hillsboro is the 1st Place Medium-sized Lions Club in the District! Gov. Jay said we had an astonishing number of points in his contest, second-most of all the clubs who entered the contest!

Leo Officers 2011-12 sworn in

Today at the last Leo Club meeting of the school year, PDG Norm Cupps swore in the new officers of the Hillsboro Leo Club. I'll edit this later with their names. Cody, in the middle, is President for a second year. Thanks and congratulations to the Leo Club Seniors who are graduating!
